Zhihua Feng, PhD - Principal Scientist

Dr. Feng brings a wealth of knowledge in biological sciences to the role of Principal Scientist at AcuraStem, with a specialized focus on spinal muscular atrophy and neuromuscular junction interactions. She received her B.S. from the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Science and Technology of China in Hefei, China, and her Ph.D. from the Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

After receiving her Ph.D., she undertook a Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Southern California. This was followed by a position as a Senior Research Associate at the same institution. 

Dr. Feng has been a two-time recipient of the Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from the USC Department of Biological Sciences and was awarded the William E. Trusten Award for her outstanding contributions as a Ph.D. student. Her list of publications is extensive, with research primarily focusing on spinal muscular atrophy, synaptic defects, and neuromuscular junction phenotypes. Among her most notable works are articles published in esteemed journals such as Neuron, Human Molecular Genetics, and Journal of Neuroscience.
