Michelle Hung joins AcuraStem with a specialized background in stem cell research, neurodegenerative diseases, and molecular biology. Her expertise lies in development, stem cells, and regenerative medicine, particularly in formulating therapeutic approaches for ALS.

Michelle received her B.S. and M.S. from National Taiwan University in the Department of Biochemical Science and Technology. She completed her Ph.D. at the University of Southern California under Dr. Justin Ichida, exploring neuroprotective strategies for ALS.

She has contributed to key publications in journals like Cell and Nature Neuroscience and is the lead author on the Cell paper ‘PIKFYVE inhibition mitigates disease in models of diverse forms of ALS.’ Prior to joining AcuraStem, Michelle served as a Postdoctoral Scholar Research Associate and Teaching Assistant at USC.

Michelle has garnered various honors such as the Tau Consortium Fellowship Award and the Government Scholarship to Study Abroad from Taiwan and has received awards including the Barber ALS Research Award from the ALS Association Golden West Chapter.

Outside the lab, she's an active speaker at scientific conferences and is passionate about science education.
